If you are a football player or coach, you will need to invest in a good kit and pair of boots.  It's important that your boots are properly fitted and maintained, and that the studs are solid and cleaned regularly.  You should also make sure you protect yourself with shin guards (worn under the socks) as part of football's nature is for members of the opposing team to aggressively attack the ball you're dribbling or kicking with their feet.  Shorts and a t-shirt will do if you are a park-player, but if you are competitive you may need to buy a kit (or your club will give you one).  A ball is another necessity, of course, and if you're serious you may also want to invest in some cones for drills and practice goals.
